-
Back up your photos: Save your files / images from your memory card directly to your computer.
-
Reformatting your xD card: Always reformat your Olympus xD card after downloading and saving images via the camera. Do not use an external card reader to format your Olympus xD Picture card, as this will erase the special Olympus file such as Panorama.
-
Charging your cameras batteries: Power failure during shooting may result in corruption of data on the xD card, which may lead to permanent damage. Full battery charge is also required when downloading your images to your computer.
-
Removal of xD during operation: It is critical that the xD card is not removed from the camera or card reader whilst the data is being saved to the card. The correct procedure is to wait several seconds once the data has been successfully written to the card.
-
Static Charge: Static charge can severely damage any data saved on the xD card. It is also recommended that cards be carefully handled in dry, low humidity areas.
-
Extreme Conditions: Avoid putting your xD card inside clothing pockets or insulated bags.
-
Editing or changing file names: Never edit photos or change file names directly on your card from your PC. This will dramatically reduce the life of your xD Picture cards; this may even cause picture error. To overcome such issues copy photos to a folder on your PC where changes can be made without risk of image loss or corruption.
-
Deleting Images: Always act with caution when using "Reformat" and "Delete All" functions on Olympus Cameras. These functions are irreversible formats that cannot be recovered.
