F2.0 Super Bright Zoom Lens

The brightest f number at maximum aperture in the tough-category of digital cameras.

The TG-2 lens system’s primary lens is a proprietary DSA element that achieves a wide-angle zoom with f/2.0 brightness. This is combined with HR and HD lenses to reduce the usual color aberration that is the most significant problem of bright wide-angle zoom lenses.
To ensure high shock-resistance, the size of the glass prism was greatly reduced to enhance optical accuracy and precision.

4× optical zoom and 8× super resolution zoom are available with Super Macro mode. Maximum magnification factors equal to 7x (at 100mm) to 14x (35 mm conversion) are possible from a shooting distance of 1 cm. Image degradation is minimal using Super Resolution Zoom to enable the near-microscopic world to be captured in high quality.

When Digital Zoom is used in combination with Super Resolution Zoom, the TG-2 functions as field digital microscope with its large OLED screen

Next-generation GPS for speedy and accurate results.

Simply turn on the GPS function to automatically record the country/region where the images were taken. Download satellite orbit data to the camera in advance using the Assist GPS function to reduce the time needed for positioning reading.

Improvements to the GPS Logger function
The Logger function data previously displayed using Google Earth and other applications is also now shown in the included Olympus Viewer 3 picture management/browsing software. Tracking display also enabled on the camera monitor.
