Having picked up my silver kit from DigiDirect yesterday, I am very pleased with their service & price & of course, I love the camera too.

Hi Ross,

That's not something I am really able to judge. It would be best to contact Digi Direct and see if they can get information from their account manager regarding supply.

Hi Shane,
I've ordered a Silver OM-D Weatherproof kit from digiDirect & they tell me I'm approximately #16 on the list. How do you rate my waiting time?

Hi Trevor,

Silver OM-D Weatherproof kit supply will pick up over the coming weeks. DCW will be getting more stock from shipments due on the 18th and 24th. You'll have to check with DCW where your order sits in their queue so give them a call.

Hi Shane,

Can you pls comment on when the silver body and 12-50mm kits will be available ?

I have had this on order since early April from DCW and they are saying that have not received any of these kits and don't know when they will be received.

HI Seansyd,

The only reason is that they keep selling out very quickly. We are getting stock every week but the demand for the OM-D is unprecedented. I am recommending to everyone to get an order in with your local camera retailer as a lot of stock seems to be getting taken up by orders before it even hits the shelf.

Hi Shane, non of the Sydney stores I asked have the 'Weather sealed kit'? Wonder if there's a reason behind it?

It's finally here....after almost 3 months since first hearing about this new M43 camera. Talk about having patience :)
One thing though, I had originally pre-ordered a silver body but found out from store that first batch they received was black only and after much deliberation I caved in and accepted the black. First impressions are very good, I am very happy to say it is still a very compact design. Build quality is very good, light but solid feel to it. The EVF is fantastic, bright and sharp. The flip touchscreen is perfect for candid street photography and look forward to testing it real soon.
As for the 'sound' everybody is talking about, yes it is there but honestly hardly noticeable under real life circumstances . Sounds like a soft fan when camera is placed next to your ear, something I can definitely live with my self. So my only small complaint would be about the lack of silver bodies made available to public on time, black is still a very nice choice but would have been a little happier with my original silver choice (my fault for not being a little more patient)

Been using it whole of yesterday. The the build quality of the camera and the grip is remarkable. Have the panasonic 25mm attached on and the lens doesn't make as much noise as the lens does with older pen models. Only gripe was that noise of the ibis on idle - in a quiet room (when i was playing with it in bed) sounds like small fan inside. Apart from that it's an excellent camera.Highly recommended.

chadnchady - glad you got a good deal. It is much better than the original prices offered and you can now get a bonus adapter. Shows they are trying and they have some stock earlier then originally promised too. Which store are you getting your deal through?

alexjam i was before complaining about the aus prices but the deal is good now and I have just ordered mine from local retailer and can pick it up on Friday. I don't even know if B&H are shipping yet.

The deal I got, worked about worked out to be 1400 for the body, grip and battery. If you add on the $50 shipping and approx $40 currency conversion rate (paypay/creditcard) from buying in the US, it actually works out to be around the same and Olympus Aus has 24 months warranty.

MMF-3 for free? Great. Thank you.

But the "MF-2 OM Adapter" (to use my OM glass) would be a nice alternative.

The best offer is the UK one, with the free grip.

It is amazing how similar the grip is to the OM motor-drive/battery packs of old.

The new grip seems eccentric, given that it is little more than a handle. Bold design. Cute. A must have.

Crisitan, the NZ price should be similar to AU but with your exchange rate and GST taken into account. I'm trying to get this for you.

Bobg, it looks like we're 99% on the way to confirming that the MMF-3 weatherproof lens adaptor will be available via redemption with all purchases before May 31st. I'll update this blog post when it is 100% confirmed.

So prize wise, do you gouys think it will keep a similar rate here in New Zealand or is it going to be much more expensive thatn everywhere else? I'm asking because I'd like to know if I should buy it here or order it from over eas

Shane (Mod)
Cristian, it should be available in NZ shortly after it hits Australian shores.

Hi jimspc, this is something we've been working on for a while. It's a matter of production schedule and global demand. We're working to finalise details so hopefully we'll have more good news to share soon.

Shane, "we don't have a bonus offer yet because we need to make sure we can secure adequate stock of any item we offer. There's no point us offering a battery grip or other item if we can't actually meet demand."
Is this not something the marketing people should have been sorting out for the past 2 months?
But is nice to see some response to consumer action, even if it did take some involvement from retailers.

Congratulations Olympus for listening to the consumer. I am now one step closer to purchasing this camera within Australia. Throw in the HLD-6 for pre-orders and I will be a proud Olympus owner.

Thanks Shane. That's interesting if the grip arrives before the camera.

Ross, the HLD-6 will start to arrive to our warehouse around the 16th of April. I don't have dates for the MMF-3 yet but will look into it for you.

So a NEW recommended price list! What happened to the old one that is now not even listed in this blog anymore? Boy, you must think your customers are dumb. Anyway a whole $100 off. Still $200 + more than the US prices and no Incentive bonuses such as free adapters, free flash, or cheap len. Too little too late - already ordered and will be here before your release date. ps for any one who is interested ordered thru B&H direct but you can also go thru Olympus or Amazon via a redirect mail site. Already available via Japan too.
