In the first product announcement for 2012, Olympus is pleased to introduce six models of our 2012 Digital Still Camera line up.
Four of these models comprise Olympus's 'Smart' range of cameras:
- The VG-160 offering an update to Australia's best selling entry level camera, the VG-140.
- The VG-170 featuring the most powerful flash in its class.
- The VR-350 and VR-360 offering powerful 10x and 12.5x zooms in stylish, compact bodies.
Secondly, we have the
Tough TG-320. This successor to Olympus's best selling TG-310, builds on the outstanding pedigree of Olympus's Tough range of cameras.
Finally, there's the new pocket ultra-zoom compact, the
SZ-14 with an amazing 25-600mm zoom lens.

The new VG-160 builds on the strengths of its bestselling predecessor (the VG-140, Australia’s No.1 selling compact digital camera at the end of 2011) by offering extraordinary premium features at the entry level segment.
A stylish all-metal body houses a high performance 5x wide-angle zoom lens that uses Olympus’ proprietary aspherical lens technology for razor sharp pictures. This 26-130mm* lens is designed to sharply capture a range of everyday shooting situations from wide angle scenes to close-up portraits. Equipped with a 14 megapixel sensor and a 3-inch LCD screen, the VG-160 also captures HD video with 720P resolution that can be easily viewed on flat panel televisions via an HDMI connection.
The VG-160 comes in a choice of 4 attractive colours (Red, Orange, Black and Silver) with colour matched lens barrels.

Featuring the biggest built-in flash in its class, the new VG-170 is designed for the camera user who regularly photographs indoors or in low-light conditions using flash. An extraordinary strobe power of GN 8.7 (rated at ISO 100) enables clear flash illumination of subjects up to 15m away – approximately three times more powerful than the typical compact digital camera.
With its 14 megapixel sensor and a large 3-inch LCD screen, the VG-170 features a super compact 26-130mm* lens with a very convenient zoom range and outstanding wide-angle capability. This high performance lens uses Olympus’ proprietary aspherical lens technology that results in class-leading compactness and superbly sharp pictures.

The new VR-350 and VR-360 have the world’s smallest high-performance 10x and 12.5x compact camera zoom lenses, and are perfect for photographers who want big zoom performance in small digital cameras.
Both super-compact large-ratio zoom lenses utilise high-performance ED glass (Extra-low Dispersion glass) with Olympus’ proprietary double-sided aspherical lens technology, to give an impressive zoom range of 24-240mm* in the VR-350, and 24-300mm* in the VR-360. Equipped with a large 3-inch LCD screen with 460,000 dots, it has 16 convenient Scene Modes, and its creative options include 11 Magic Filter effects that can be applied in both still photography and HD movie recording.
